Questions

Good questions.

Why use a link shortener at all?

A long link is awkward to pass on. It’s hard to fit on a poster or a slide, impossible to read out loud, and it makes a dense QR code that’s harder to scan. A short link is easy to say, type and print, and its QR stays simple. With an account you can also see how many people used it.

Why tap.je instead of Bitly or TinyURL?

tap.je is built for links you’ve already shared: on a poster, in a bio, on packaging, in a deck. Every link comes with a QR code, print-ready, with no monthly QR allowance, and you can start without signing up. Some bigger shorteners ration their free plans to a handful of links or QR codes a month. On Pro ($9/month) you can change where a link goes after it’s out there, use your own domain, and manage links from Claude or ChatGPT.

Do I need an account?

No. Paste a link and you get a short link and QR code straight away. Without an account the link works for 30 days. A free account keeps it for good, lets you give it a name, and puts all your links in one dashboard.

What happens after 30 days?

A link made without an account stops working. Claim it before then, from the same browser you made it in, and it never expires.

Can I choose my own link name?

Yes, with a free account: tap.je/fun-run instead of a random code. You name each link once: when you create it, or when you claim one you made without an account. Renaming it later is on Pro.

Can I change where a link goes after I’ve shared it?

On Pro, yes, as often as you like. The short link and its QR code stay the same, so the poster, the bio link and the sticker all keep working.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Pro includes one custom domain, and Team includes three.
